Short Inca Trail To Machu Picchu – 1N / 2D

This 2-Day Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is designed especially for travelers with limited time. You will traverse the final and most picturesque section of the trail, visiting the beautiful Inca site of Wiñay Wayna and arriving at Machu Picchu via the iconic Sun Gate, where you will enjoy breathtaking views overlooking the Inca Citadel.

On this trek, you will enjoy a comfortable small-group experience that includes a boxed lunch and a traditional dinner, an overnight hotel stay in Aguas Calientes, a guided sunrise tour of the Machu Picchu citadel, and a return journey by tourist train. We take care of every detail to ensure your trip is a safe, authentic, and unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Short Inca Trail (Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu)

We will pick up from your hotel in Cusco, early in the morning (about 5:00 am) and then will drive to the train station of Ollantaytambo Town. Where we will take the train from Ollantaytambo through the picturesque Sacred Valley to Km. 104. depending on the departure time of the train to be always 30 minutes before the departure of train.07.15a.m. Be already at the train station for check in07.45 a.m. Train Expeditions from Ollantaytambo to Km. 104 (Starting point of the walk)which takes about one hours 45 minuts. At Km 104 where we will start the trekking with our tour guide. we will get off the train and pass the Inca Trail checkpoint where we will see our first archaeological center called Chachabamba, at 2,170 m or 7,170 ft. Our hike continues gently upward for approximately four hours until we reach the beautifully situated Inca complex of Winay Wayna at 2,650 m or 8,700 ft, which is named after an orchid and means “Forever Young” in quechua, where we stop to eat a nutritious and plentiful Box lunch. Sub-tropical flora and fauna surround us as we continue 2 hours to the Sun Gate (Intipunku) at 2,720 m or 8,920 ft which is called Intipunku in Quechua, This is where we will have our first view of Machu Picchu and from there we will hike down to the ruins where you will have some time to take some photos and enjoy the grandeur of Machu Picchu before we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes. We will check into our hotel where you will have some time to rest or you can visit the hot springs which is about 10 minutes away. Afterwards, we will meet for dinner and plan for the following day.

Breakfast at the Hotel

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide and board the bus for a 25-minute ride to Machu Picchu. Your guide will accompany you on a 2- to 3-hour tour of the most important areas included in your assigned circuit. You will explore terraces, viewpoints, temples, royal quarters, sacred areas, and the central part of the citadel, while learning about the history, architecture, and daily life of the Incas. We always request Circuit 3, as it includes access to the Inca Trail route and offers one of the most comprehensive guided tours. After exploring the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, you will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch on your own.  In the afternoon, you will board the Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo and continue by private transport to Cusco. The suggested time to descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes town is 12:00 p.m depending on the departure time of the train to be always 30 minutes before the departure of train.

Upon arrival at the station you will be waiting for a staff of the company to transfer to their respective hotel in Cusco
