The Waqrapukara Trek Full Day Tour invites you to discover this hidden archaeological wonder of Peru. Join our daily group tours to explore Waqrapukara, an impressive ancient fortress perched high in the Andes.

It is ideal for adventurers looking to venture off the beaten path while enjoying professional service and included meals. Waqrapukara is one of Cusco’s newest attractions and a highly recommended destination for adventure tourism.

It is also considered an excellent acclimatization hike to prepare your body before tackling treks such as Rainbow Mountain, Salkantay, the Inca Trail, Choquequirao, the Lares Trek, and more.

Itinerary

Cusco – Pitumarka – Waqrapukara – Cusco

The tour begins very early with hotel pick-up between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Once the entire group is together, we will begin the tour toward the South Valley.

We will travel for 3 hours by tourist transport to the town of Santa Lucía. Along the way, we will stop in Cusipata for breakfast at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, we will continue our excursion to the community of Santa Lucía. In Santa Lucía, we will take a detour and travel for another 15 minutes along a winding road until we reach Punta Carretera.

Here, we will have about 10 minutes to make final preparations before beginning our hike toward Waqrapukara. Our professional guide will give us all the necessary instructions.

Once everyone is ready, we’ll begin our hike. The uphill walk will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering a distance of about 2.5 kilometers.

Upon arriving at Waqrapukara, the guide will explain the significance of this archaeological complex. Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore the site on your own and take photos.

Following the visit, we’ll enjoy a delicious boxed lunch. Then, we’ll return along the same path to Punta Carretera, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.

We’ll arrive in Cusco at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Inca trail Eddy and his team helped me with everything so I could do the Inca trail. On the evening before they went to visit my hostel and explained me in detail all I need to know about the Inca trail. I even got a beautiful shirt with the Inca trail on as a souvenir/gift. The hiking group was very mixed and great group. I have massive respect for all the porters/cooks and guides on the team. The Inca trail has a very big history and very beautiful Inca constructions. The nature is amazing . On my return to Cusco, Edy offered me a car ride to the hostel to pick up my belongings and drove me to the airport. It really made it practical and safe for me. An amazing Lares Trek I recently went on a hiking/yoga with Peruvian Path and Adventures and it was an amazing experience. The Lares Trek was beautiful, peaceful and had the perfect amount of challenging components. It was amazing to walk through the villages and not be around tons of people.
