Andean Condor Bird Watching – Full Day Tour

The Andean Condor Bird Watching Full Day Tour begins at 6:00 a.m. with a private pickup from your hotel for a scenic drive to Limatambo, with stops at the archaeological sites of Quillarumiyoc and Tarawasi.

 

You will then ascend to Chonta at 3,400 meters above sea level to enjoy a traditional Andean lunch prepared by a professional chef. After lunch, a 1.5-hour walk leads to a viewpoint where you will spend approximately 2 hours observing the magnificent Andean condors.

Itinerary

Cusco – Quillarumiyoc – Tarawasi – Chonta – Canyon Del Condor

At 6:00 a.m., our private transport will pick you up from your hotel, and we will begin our approximately 2-hour drive to Limatambo. Along the way, we will enjoy excellent views of the deep valleys formed by steep mountains.

We will stop at two archaeological sites along the way. The first is Quillarumiyoc, also known as the Temple of the Moon and Fertility, where you will be able to admire a sculpture in the shape of a half moon.

Next, we will stop at Tarawasi, which was a resting place for Inca pilgrims. Here, we will observe the rock-inlay construction style used in its walls.

Continuing our journey, we will follow the road to the Huayronca Bridge. From there, we will take an unpaved road to the community of Chonta. We will ascend to a height of 3,400 meters above sea level.

During our ascent, we will stop to take photographs of the surrounding views of the Salkantay Mountain Range. We will arrive at the community of Chonta at approximately 12:00 p.m., where we will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our professional chef, specializing in Andean cuisine, while observing the snow-capped mountains and valleys.

After lunch, we will begin our walk to the viewpoint, which takes around 1.5 hours, reaching an altitude of approximately 3,350 meters. From the viewpoint, we will be able to observe the Andean condors for about 2 hours.

We will then return to the community of Chonta, where our private transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, arriving at around 7:00 p.m.
